Things to do on Labor Day Weekend

**Labor Day Arts and Crafts Fair at the River Walk

Located along the River Walk Extension near the Chamber of Commerce, this Arts & Crafts Show displays some of the most unique handmade merchandise available anywhere. Whether its jewelry, pottery or fine art you are interested in, you can get a head start on your holiday shopping. Enjoy a stroll along the picturesque River Walk, stop to talk to our vendors who are anxious to share information about their craft, and take home an item that will enhance your wardrobe or home. **Urban Jazz in the Streets at The Shops at La Cantera Presents Jeff Kashiwa

The Majestic Theatre is the site of this Acoustic-Metal rock guitar duo concert that is presented by ARTS San Antonio. Rodrigo y Grabiela will perform. Tickets are available through TicketMaster and start at $39.

A part of the ongoing sculptural arts program, the Labor Day Weekend events features the work of Michaelangelo. This is for children who are already into art and wish to expand their sculptural skills. See link for more information about how to get into this program.

St. Patrick's Day Events

The Harp & Shamorck Society's street parade kicks off at 11 a.m.; the River Parade starts right after the San Antonio River is dyed green and rechristened the River Shannon at 3 p.m. The St. Patrick's festival runs from 1-6 p.m. in the Arneson River Theater, while the Guinness Pub Crawl stars at 6 p.m. (registration at 5).

Luminaria

Luminaria is San Antonio's annual celebration of art and artists. Held in March and overseen by San Antonio's creative leaders, it is free of charge and showcases all art forms in an outdoor setting and inside various venues downtown. In addition, special arts events and performances throughout the city occur simultaneously and/or throughout the month in conjunction with Contemporary Art Month.

Luminaria spotlights San Antonio's cultural assets for local citizens and visitors alike and is made possible through the generosity of artists, arts organizations, volunteers, and public and private donations.

In 2009, 185,000 people attended Luminaria.

This event honors Asian cultures and traditions from the Middle East to the Pacific Rim.
